About Us
The word Jonga is a Xhosa word that means “To See”.
The Jonga Trust manages a group of companies aimed at preventing avoidable blindness and improving the overall eye health of people in disadvantaged communities. They do this by providing programs that educates the patients about eye health, screens for diseases in the eye and provide appropriate treatment for the eye.
Jonga Trust uses modern and innovative techniques to provide their services like mobile wireless retinal cameras. These cameras are used to take digital photos of the back of the eye allowing trained doctors to provide remote diagnosis of various eye diseases. Whilst the main focus of Jonga Trust is providing eye care, they aim to seek opportunity to train unemployed youth from disadvantaged communities to become skilled in various aspects of eye health care and business management.
